Title: Bayside Opposites (The Hunters Book 10)
Author: Stacy Claflin
Cover: Stacy gave me permission to use the book cover on my blog.

Story:

She’s burdened by guilt and tragedy. He wants to help her, but he has secrets of his own.

Madisyn Steele graduated college with no job lined up and no income of her own. She returned to her childhood home where her wealthy and overbearing father won’t wait for her to get her life in order. He’s continuing his domineering pattern and ruling her life, even going so far as to ignore her wishes by trying to arrange her marriage to Reese Rutherford, a man she despises—just to solidify his business prospects.

Nate Roberts is barely making ends meet. Despite his hardships, he plans to make it on his own and never return to the home he ran from years earlier. He’s begging friends for food the night he has a chance encounter with Madisyn and everything changes. First he’s willing to go back to Enchantment Bay and earn an honest wage for her, then he’s ready to chance hauling illegal contraband just to make the kind of money she’s used to.

Madisyn doesn’t care about material things. She only cares about Nate. But her father’s plans and Reese’s schemes threaten the future she and Nate are trying to build. Can they reveal their secrets and work through all the issues keeping them apart, or will they ultimately push each other away?

Bayside Opposites was previously published as Love’s First Kiss. It has been revised to become part of the Hunters series and has one new chapter added. Otherwise, it is essentially the same story.

My review:

I really liked Madisyn and was excited to learn which of her two degrees she’s going to use, but was wondering about her secret. I didn’t expect her to be interested in Nate because they couldn’t be more different, while she’s a rich girl he grew up poorly and doesn’t even have been to college. From how Stacy describes both characters you’ll find that they make a perfect couple, they even tell each other the worst parts of their lives.
What made my furious was how Madisyn’s dad acted and what ways he tried to force her into an unwanted marriage without love, just to have a stronger bond with his business partner. Also if I could have kicked Reese I’d have done it for trying to blackmail Madisyn into dating him. I was very proud when she first tells him that she’s no prize, then stands up against his dad. Fantastic read with a happy end.

I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
